A hairdresser is offering free haircuts and styling to leukaemia sufferers to give them confidence as they go through treatment.

Angelina Hill decided to set up the free service after speaking to people with the condition at her salon, Hair Discovery, in East Barnet Road.

The 32-year-old, who has owned the salon for two-and-a-half years, said: “Some people didn’t know where to go for wigs, or what to do with their hair – and so I've decided to help them.

“Some hospitals give patients a wig. I can help explain what style will suit their face and I will also cut and style it properly.”

As well as styling wigs, Mrs Hill will help patients right through their treatment, from when they start losing their hair to when it starts to grow back.

Mrs Hill, who has been a hairdresser for 16 years, said: “I can give them a free hair cut, cutting it shorter and shorter while the hair is coming out until we need to shave it, making sure they’re comfortable with the style. And again, styling when the hair is coming back.

“Being a woman I know that hair is everything – you wear it every day. I just want to help those who are suffering with this and help give them confidence.”
