Teenagers will use their own experiences to produce a short film to tackle youth homelessness in Barnet.
Barnet Borough Council's Barnet Group has commissioned production company Exposure to make the film, which will highlight the problems people encounter when it comes to finding somewhere to live.
They will use hard-hitting facts with playful, well-observed humour to get key messages across.
Exposure’s Flo Codjoe, who will be overseeing the project, said: “Our film will be developed with the active participation of young people in Barnet reflecting their personal experiences and unique perspective.”
The film will explore different situations that young people may find themselves in, after having experienced difficulties at home.
It will signpost young people to the advice, support and mediation services available to help keep them safe.
Charlie Kanareck, early intervention and prevention manager at The Barnet Group, said: “We’re delighted to be working with Exposure as we value their philosophy of empowering young people to help inform their peers.”
Exposure will work with young people on the Stonegrove Estate in Edgware, with support from youth workers.
It will be completed by August and used as an education resource in schools, youth clubs and a variety of youth settings.
