Housing provider Barnet Homes has welcomed two new firms to manage repairs in its properties.

Gas contractors T Brown Group will take on the maintenance of boilers, ventilation fans and pumps in blocks and communal flats.

And Robert Heath, a specialist gas heating company, will provide the annual servicing of gas appliances including boilers.

Established for 30 years, T Brown is already Barnet Homes' contractor for flats in the Grahame Park estate.

Earlier this year, the organisation was forced to apologise after its original gas contractors, MITIE, failed to repair hundreds of broken boilers on time.

The organisation then cancelled its contract with MITIE, and was then flooded with complaints about poor service.

Barnet Homes chief executive Tracey Lees said: “We’re excited about the new contracts. We believe that residents will benefit greatly from improved customer service.

“We’ll continue to involve tenants in checking that the contractors meet the high standards expected of them.”

The contracts began on April 1.
