A primary school has hit their year’s charity target after just two of the three academic terms.
Stormont Girls School, in The Causeway, Potters Bar, has reached the £6,000 mark for The Guide Dogs for the Blind Association, their charity of the year.
The school is raising the money to name two puppies at the charity and pupils have been busy making dog masks in their most recent charitable efforts.
Karen Mumford, Welwyn Garden City mobility team manager, judged the mask competition.
Headteacher Sharon Martin said: “I am very proud of the girls, the parents and the staff – it has been a real team effort.”
The school has already hosted a sponsored blindfold obstacle course, with a stall held by the local fundraising group and a coffee morning in aid of the charity.
A sponsored doggy dash run for the school’s sports day will be held in early July.
The Guide Dogs for the Blind Association provides mobility and freedom to blind and partially sighted people.
