Football lovers were shown how to “play the Arsenal way” at a family festival today.

Hundreds of children honed their skills on the pitch at the Arsenal Soccer Schools Middlesex event at the Furzefield centre in Mutton Lane, Potters Bar.

Arsenal Soccer School coaches ran free football sessions, and games for all the family included a shooting challenge.

Head coach Pete Edwards said: “It’s really all about getting kids more active, involved in football and playing the Arsenal way. Arsenal are a passing team so we like to coach our children to pass and move more and hopefully make them better players.

“They can also get involved in our courses here in Potters Bar and in Finchley, Harrow, Wembley and Kenton. And, they can then go on to play against children from all around the world in our events like the World Arsenal Soccer Schools 3v3 competition.”

The Soccer School is open for boys and girls, regardless of ability, who are between the ages of five and 13.

Seven-year-old Scarlett Kagalwala of Harrow has already been signed-up to the Arsenal Ladies Academy under nines team.

The midfielder said: “I really like scoring goals. Today I’ve been doing some skills and shooting.”
