Drivers can make their cars more secure against potential thieves at a 'PL4TE S4FE' event next weekend.
PCSO Cheryll Lavell will be at Tesco car park in Mutton Lane, Potters Bar, between 10am and 12pm on Saturday May 17 with a team who will fit theft resistant screws to people’s number plates.
PCSO Lavell, from the Potters Bar and Shenley Safer Neighbourhood Team, said: “Theft of your car number plates can be very inconvenient and they can be used for criminal offences including bilking (stealing petrol), evading speed camera fines or avoiding the congestion charges in London.
“To help keep yours safe, why not come along and spend a few minutes securing your number plates.
“We’ll also be providing crime prevention advice about how to keep your vehicle secure.”
The event has been organised by Hertsmere Community Safety Partnership which involves a number of local organisations including Hertsmere Borough Council, Hertfordshire Constabulary, Hertfordshire Fire and Rescue Service, housing associations and voluntary support groups.
