Children taught about dangers of erratic parking in Potters Bar
Children at two Potters Bar schools were sent home primed to teach their parents a lesson about dangerous parking.
Cranborne Primary School, and Oakmere Primary School welcomed visits from PCSO Graham Tippett and Carl Rowson from the Potters Bar & Shenley Safer Neighbourhood Team.
They told pupils about parking restrictions for drivers, including why motorists should avoid leaving their cars on the pavement.
Eye-catching banners, funded by Hertsmere Community Safety Partnership, were put up outside the school after assemblies.
PCSO Graham Tippett said: “The frustration is that it is parents who are parking dangerously and inconsiderately when it is often their own children they put at risk.
“We hope pupils will tell their parents or carers not to park dangerously or illegally and highlight the consequences of their actions.
“We want them to think about their own safety, encourage their parents to allow more time to get to school and think about other young people that may not be aware of the potential dangers on our roads.”
Pope Paul Catholic Primary School will be visited by the Potters Bar & Shenley Neighbourhood Team on Wednesday, June 4.
