Barnet and Southgage College students in finals of motorsport competition
College students are getting their motorsport skills in gear after winning a place at a national karting competition.
Three students at Barnet and Southgate College, in Wood Street, earned a place at the national final of the British Schools Karting Championship.
Sebastian Jaworski, Jonathan Swam and Daniel McDermott, all 18, will compete against young people from 32 other schools in the country.
They earned their place in the final by coming fifth place in the Southeast Regional Final of the UK’s largest school karting competition, at Whilton Mill on July 19.
Championship manager Mark Turner said: “Congratulations to the team from Barnet and Southgate College, it is a huge achievement to make it to the British Schools Karting Championship National Final.
“The 2014 BSKC has seen over 10,000 students race for the title so just getting to the National Final is already a victory.
“The BSKC is designed to introduce young people to competitive karting. As well as offering a sport that is not always available at college and school, it’s a simple route for talented students to take part in the exciting world of motorsports.”
