Israeli celebrity chef and food critic Gil Hovav taught Holocaust survivors some of his culinary tips.
Mr Hovav gave members of Jewish Care’s Holocaust Survivors Centre a demonstration on how to make his favourite Israeli salad, tabbouleh.
He also told stories of his great-grandfather Eliezer Ben-Yehuda, who helped revive the Hebrew language, and his grandfather Itamar Ben-Avi, who began reporting in modern Hebrew.
Centre member Bella Kerridge, 93, said: “It is wonderful that this famous and successful young man has come to visit us here at the Holocaust Survivors Centre. It was really interesting and lovely to meet him.”
Members of the Israeli Embassy also attended the event.
