Schoolchildren reached for their sunglasses and made the most of the sunshine during a packed week of watersports in Newquay.

Pupils from St Andrew the Apostle School in Barnet enjoyed challenges including surfing, kayaking, paddle boarded and coasterring in the school’s first residential trip.

Activities were also organised for the children who did not go on the trip – including visits to the Tate Britain Art Museum and St Paul’s Cathedral.

It was led by head of PE Joe Callendar, who said: “The idea was to provide a safe, structured opportunity for our students to enjoy new experiences, gain new skills and above all grow in confidence.

"The whole week was one of sharing, learning together, getting on with people in an atmosphere of trust and with a huge sense of fun.”
