Books by local authors for you to read by the pool this summer - Elly's Adventures in the Animal Park by Linda Nissen Samuels, from Finchley

First published in

A little boy goes to the animal park and can’t wait to see all the big animals. Seeing this, the park’s snake was afronted the smaller animals were ignored by him and suggests to all the tiny insects that they go on strike – they go away and everything shuts down.

“Nature is really put out by the fact that the insects have gone,“ says Finchley author, artist and art teacher Linda Nissen Samuels.

“Everything goes dark and we realise it was a big mistake and that the insects have to come back again.

“There’s a definite moral – everything matters, big and small, and the way we treat our planet is extremely important.“

Linda, 65, originally from South Africa is exhibiting a selection of original watercolours from her children’s book at the London Jewish Cultural Centre in Golders Green, where she teaches an art class.

She also teaches at the Art Stables in Finchley, ran her own gallery, Bertold Gallery in Hendon Lane in Finchley, until 2009, and has been awarded eight medals at the International Grand Prix of Art in Cannes, including five golds
