A chef got out of the kitchen to raise money for charity by hosting a quiz night.

Paul Boot, who lives in Potters Bar, holds annual events to raise money for cancer Macmillan Nurses.

He held his latest charity night on Saturday, June 14 at Elm Court Youth and Community Centre, in Mutton Lane.

This year, he was helped by his partner Helen Nash and Phillip French, and the trio raised £846 for the charity.

Mr Boot, a chef at Barnet College, said: “Every year I choose a different charity, and this year I picked MacMillan as they do not get financial support from the government.”

Around 40 people turned up to the event, which included a buffet dinner.

Supermarket vouchers, wine and meal vouchers could be won.

Raine & Co Estate Agents, in Potters Bar, donated £250 of the money raised and Barnet College gave £300.

Mr Boot added: “I would just like to thank Barnet and Southgate college for all their work and contributions to my event.”
