A man was stabbed in his chest and back as he was walking through an alleyway.

The 43-year-old was walking through Tangmere Way, in the Grahame Park Estate on Thursday, July 3 at 2.20pm when a man wearing a hooded top approached him.

He punched the victim in the head and demanded his backpack, before stabbing him in the chest with a small kitchen knife when he refused.

A struggle ensued and as the victim tried to run off, he was stabbed again in his back.

The victim shouted for help and passer-bys came to his assistance, before giving him first aid.

Paramedics were called and the man was discharged from hospital the next day.

The suspect is described as black, aged between 18 and 25-years-old, 6ft tall, of thin build.

He was wearing dark grey tracksuit bottoms down to his knees, a grey hooded top and a dark baseball cap, and has distinctive protruding lips and some facial hair.

Anyone with information should call police on 101.
