A “dedicated” carer has won an award for her work.

Gladis Koswatta, who works at Sydmar Lodge Care Home, in Edgware, received the London Borough of Barnet Adult and Communities excellent care award.

She joined the company in 2006, and since then has worked tirelessly to care for people over the age of 65 who need respite, palliative and end of life care.

Ms Koswatta was nominated by her manager, Abigail Khandaker, who was impressed with the way she cares for those living in the centre.

She said: “Gladis is a dedicated and caring member of staff, so I decided to nominate her for this award to recognise her achievements.

“We are really proud of all our staff here at Sydmar Lodge and for a member of the team to receive an honour such as this is fantastic.”

After receiving her award, Mrs Koswatta was presented with a bouquet of flowers by the rest of the Sydmar staff.

She said: “It is lovely to be honoured for my work in this way. It was so nice to just be nominated, so it’s wonderful to receive this accolade.”
