Hertsmere Borough Council has launched a survey to help promote healthy living in the borough.

The borough council, which covers Borehamwood, Elstree and Potters Bar, is calling for the public to answer questions about healthy living in order to shape its new health and wellbeing strategy.

The survey, carried out by Community Action Hertsmere, aims to provide a plan for improving the health of those living in the borough by working with some of the council’s partners.

Questions include:

  • Could the council do more to help you live a healthier lifestyle?
  • What would make Hertsmere a healthier place to live?
  • If you smoke, what would help you stop or reduce?

Councillor Brenda Batten, who is responsible for health policy, said: “We have the raw data about what health issues the borough has – these include obesity, diabetes and mental health, specifically self-harm – but the survey is a way to fill in the gaps and find out what residents need from us and our partners to help them improve their health and wellbeing.

“Options for improving people’s health and wellbeing include providing smoking cessation sessions, healthy cooking classes, money advice, education and training opportunities and physical activities.”

To fill in the survey online, visit Hertmere’s health site before August 6.
