An allotment open day and summer show will raise money for charity.

It will take place at the Clifford Road Allotments in New Barnet on Saturday, August 30 from 12pm to 4pm. There will be vegetable competitions, cake sales and a barbecue. The money raised will go to Noah’s Ark Children’s Hospice, in Barnet, and towards the running of the allotments.

Thomas Horner, 31, a graphic designer who is helping organise the event, said: “We’re hoping for people to come in and have a look. We had one last year which was a really big success.”

Thomas, who lives in Woodville Road, New Barnet, added: “It’s good to bring awareness to the local community. We’re trying to get younger people involved in the allotments. It’s a large site, there are 200 plots.”
