Disabled people who want to take up sports can enter to become the next powerlifting champion.

People from Barnet aged 14 and over who have a disability such as cerebral palsy, muscular dystrophy or polio are encouraged to try out for the next Para Powerlifting competition.

The event is part of a London-wide initiative to increase the number of British disabled people in powerlifting.

Chairman of Barnet Borough Council’s health and wellbeing board, Councillor Helena Hart, is encouraging people to try out the “exciting” new scheme.

Tryouts will be held on Saturday, September 20 at Oaklands School in Bethnal Green.
