Council offices could be moved in order to save money.

Barnet Borough Council is looking at relocating its offices to Grahame Park by 2017.

The authority hopes to make savings by moving out of Barnet House, in High Road, Whetstone, and part of North London Business Park (NLBP) in Oakleigh Road South, New Southgate.

The plans will be discussed at the council's assets, regeneration and growth committee next Monday.

Barnet Council leader Councillor Richard Cornelius said: "The council needs to find a new, much smaller, office building and I would very much like us to support the wider regeneration of the west of the borough by placing a new building in Colindale.

“But I want a modest back office building that reflects that we are an economical council and that saves the taxpayer money.

"The civic heart of the council will remain at Hendon Town Hall."
