A shopping centre celebrated its 25th anniversary with a party.

The Spires Shopping Centre in High Street, Barnet celebrated its 25th year of trading last Saturday. Live music, photo booths and prizes were among attractions, and a cake was provided by the Victoria Bakery.

Noah’s Ark Children’s Hospice staged an attempt to win a Guinness World Record for the longest continuous string of bunting, by creating ten miles of bunting.

Centre manager Graham Trotman said: “It went very well, it was well attended and the rain held off. We had a lot of good music.”

Mr Trotman, who has worked at the centre since 1990 and is close to celebrating his 25th year there, added: “It looked like a lot of people had a lot of fun. On the whole everyone seemed to enjoy themselves. I’m happy with the way it went.”
