Teenagers raised £2,000 while clocking up 500 hours of volunteering last weekend.

Staff and volunteers from Noah’s Ark Children’s Hospice, in Barnet, were joined by nearly 100 15 to 17-year-olds for a range of events across the borough.

The teenagers got involved as part of a National Citizen Service (NCS) project with The Challenge, a charity which aims to help community integration.

They packed bags at supermarkets in Brent Cross, Colindale and Golders Green, and took part in a challenge to create the world's longest string of bunting at The Spires Shopping Centre, High Barnet, on Saturday.

Over the summer, seven teams of young people from across north London visited the hospice as part of National Citizen Service to find out more about the charity’s work.

Organiser Beth McGlue said: “It has been fantastic working with Noah’s Ark. Our young people really enjoyed visiting the charity and to learn about all the fantastic work that the staff and volunteers do in the community.”
