A schoolgirl has topped the charts with a book she wrote for charity.

Hanni Blaskey, 13, a pupil at Queenswood School in Brookmans Park, published a book called ‘What Makes Me Happy?’ for Children in Need.

It features more than 100 celebrities and politicians explaining the things that make them happy.

The book, which went on sale last week in Sainsbury’s stores across the country, is currently number one in the supermarket’s paperback book chart.

Hanni, who lives in Hampstead, said: “I got the idea while watching Children in Need. It’s a charity we always watch on TV, and always donate to. I decided I wanted to physically help raise money. I thought of a book on happiness, and from there it took me two years to try and reach as many famous and interesting people as I could.

“Having a book is really nice for people. I thought the title should be about happiness, as the variety of things that make people happy is interesting to see. They might have completely different jobs but the things that make them happy might be the same.”

Hanni wrote letters to as many people as she could, asking them to get involved.

She also approached celebrities whenever she got the chance, including Dizzee Rascal, whom she bumped into on a plane to Miami.

Miss Blaskey said: “The book is a complete mix, so it didn’t bore people. It’s less predictable that way. I really like Andy Murray’s entry because you usually just hear him talking about tennis, but he wrote about his family and his dog. That was nice to see.

“I got to go and see the first book come off the press. It was amazing to see how long it took and so many people working on it.

“The whole experience has made me really happy because I know eventually what will come out of the book will help so many people. I hope that it will sell as many as possible and raise as much money as it can.”

The book has a foreword written by Prime Minister David Cameron.

Miss Blaskey added: “It was amazing how people so busy took the time and put so much thought in.”
