A party was held to celebrate a woman’s 105th birthday.

Mrs Phyllis Stein, who lives in Sunridge Court in Golders Green, celebrated her birthday at a party attended by the Mayor of Barnet Cllr Hugh Rayner last Saturday.

Held in Sunridge Court, about 45 other people living there attended, as well as family and friends.

Mrs Stein’s niece, Rosemary Lewis, who helped organise the party, said: “It was really good, and she thoroughly enjoyed herself. The Mayor gave a speech, as did she.

“She received a letter from the Queen, congratulating her on turning 105. She was delighted.”

Mrs Stein, who has lived in the borough for most of her life, has been in Sunridge Court for more than 20 years.

Mrs Lewis, who lives in Pinner, added: “You can have a conversation with her and it’s like talking to someone much younger. Her mind is still clear.

“She takes an interest in current affairs. They have discussion groups at Sunridge Court, which she takes part in.”

The youngest members of her family also attended the celebrations, including her great-great-nieces Annabelle, aged 6, and Sofie, aged 8.
