A search is underway to find the family of a man who was killed by a train.

Police officers have been unable to identify the man, who was struck by a train at New Barnet station at 10.40pm on August 24.

He may have had connections to the Netherlands.

He is described as being white or mixed race, aged between 20 and 50, and of medium to large build, with short dark hair.

The man was wearing an XL Canada-branded red polo shirt, with a ‘NFT 1952’ logo on the front, and Angelo Litrico blue jeans, with a 36in waist.

The death is not being treated as suspicious. Checks using DNA and finger-print samples have so far proved unsuccessful.

Detective Sergeant Adrian Naylor, of British Transport Police’s Fatality Investigation Unit, said: “Despite exhaustive efforts by detectives and specialist forensic officers, we have been unable to identify him, and are now appealing publicly, in an effort to trace his family.

“My first thoughts are with this man’s family and friends, who have a right to be informed of his death. I would appeal to anybody with information which could help us find out who this man is to come forward.

“Even the smallest detail, however trivial, could be the link we need to solve this case.”
