A college principal braved more than the autumn chill when his students poured a bucket of ice over his head to raise money for a charity in Africa.
David Byrne, who works at Barnet and Southgate College, in Wood Street, took on the famous ice bucket challenge to raise money for Riders for Health.
Mr Byrne can look forward to being warmer next April, when he rides a motorcycle across the Zambian bush to raise money for African health workers with the charity.
Mobile motorcycle health workers have become a lifeline, delivering basic but regular healthcare to people in villages.
He said: “We’ll be riding more than 1,000km on motorcycles across the Zambian bush for nine days. Mobile motorcycle health workers have become a lifeline delivering regular healthcare to African villagers and it’s great to be able to support this fantastic cause in a small way.”
