A church plans to move out of the building where its members have met for a century.

St Barnabas Church, in Holden Road, Woodside Park, is planning to move to High Road, North Finchley, because the congregation is too large for the building.

The church hopes to purchase Solar House and convert two-thirds of it into a new church centre, which will include a new church auditorium, children’s facilities, a food bank, clothes bank and community space.

Vicar the Reverend Henry Kendal said: “In making this move to the High Road, we hope to help to provide a thriving community hub which will be an exciting focus for all sorts of community and faith-based activities, and ultimately act as a catalyst for the regeneration of North Finchley.”

Consultation meetings will be held early in the New Year. More information on the church and the relocation plans is available at www.goandgrow.london
