A murder investigation has been launched following a stabbing at Middlesex University in the early hours of the morning.

Police were called to reports of a fight on the university campus in Greyhound Hill, Hendon, at 1.09am.

Officers found a 22-year-old man had been stabbed and he was taken to hospital in a critical condition.

The victim later died in hospital.

Police say next of kin have been made aware and await formal identification.

No arrests have been made and detectives from Homicide and Major Crime Command are investigating.

Detective Chief Inspector Nicola Wall said: "We are keen to hear from anyone who witnessed the incident on the university campus near the student union area shortly after 1am today.

“There was a student event going on before this fight took place and many people would have been passing through the area before and after the fatal stabbing.”
