The Post Office has announced plans to move its Potters Bar branch to a stationer's shop.

Currently based at 123 Darkes Lane, Potters Bar, the branch could move early next year to The Sainsbury Centre in, Darkes Lane - about 250 metres away.

If the proposed move goes ahead, the branch will be run by Universal Office Equipment (UK) Ltd, rather than directly by the Post Office.

The service would also be open for an extra 11 hours per week, with opening hours from 8.30am to 6pm Monday to Saturday, except for Wednesdays, when the branch would open at 9am.

There will be no compulsory redundancies as a result of the proposed move.

The Post Office is inviting people to comment on the proposals in a six-week public consultation that ends on December 17.

During the consultation, submissions can be made through the online questionnaire at www.postofficeviews.co.uk, by FREEPOST Your Comments to Post Office Ltd, via email to comments@postoffice.co.uk, via the Customer Helpline on 08457 22 33 44 or Textphone 08457 22 33 55.

Customers are asked to quote branch code 030005 in all communications.
