The mother of a sports coach who was murdered is appealing for donations for children at the school where her son worked.

Cheryl Armatrading, who lives in Finchley, lost her 20-year-old son Antoin Akpom when he was stabbed in Leicester last year.

She launched a foundation in her son’s memory last month, called AAA 4 Success, to help children achieve their potential.

Ms Armatrading, who works in North Finchley for A4e as an employability skills trainer, has set up a drop-off point for donations at Best One, in Regents Park Road, Finchley.

The toys will go to Sparkenhoe Primary School, in Leicester, where her son was a sports coach and mentor.

Ms Armatrading said: “I wanted to send toys and books to the school to help children who will be unable to have presents at Christmas. By helping these children, we can ensure they have a brighter future. It’s a small thing, but it can have such a huge impact.”

The drop-off point for unwanted new toys is open from Monday to Sunday, until 6pm.
