Pupils, parents and staff joined the Bishop of London to celebrate the official opening of a new primary school.

Millbrook Park Church of England Primary School, in School House Lane, Mill Hill, opened in September, and will eventually provide places for 669 pupils.

Built on the site of the Inglis Barracks, the school has a full-size all weather pitch for community use and a games area. A nursery with 39 places will also open on the site next September.

Following a balloon release in the playground, the Bishop of London, The Rt Rev and Rt Hon Richard Chartres, led a service to formally open the school, and unveiled a stone plaque, which will be on display in the school’s entrance foyer.

The opening was also attended by Mayor of Barnet Councillor Hugh Rayner.

Headteacher Nicola Dudley said: “We’re blessed to have such a wonderful new school and outdoor space on this historic site in Mill Hill. For our pupils, families and staff, Millbrook Park CE Primary School is already a thriving community. It’s been lovely for us all to celebrate our official opening today.”
