More than 100 cannabis plants were seized after police had a tip-off while visiting an industrial estate.

Officers discovered 116 cannabis plants and equipment for growing the plant at a unit in Cranborne Industrial Estate, in Potters Bar, yesterday.

Plants were taken away to be destroyed while the unit was dismantled, and officers are now carrying out enquiries to identify those responsible.

The factory was discovered when officers from the Potters Bar and Shenley Safer Neighbourhood Team visited businesses on site explaining the benefits of the Business Watch scheme.

Officers were approached during their visit and given information about a unit suspected of being used to grow the illegal plant.

PC Paul Francis said: “This highlights the full benefits of Business Watch and how these schemes can really work for the area - it also shows to criminals that the businesses and residents of Potters Bar will not tolerate criminal activity in their town.

“The Safer Neighbourhood Team will act on intelligence provided by members of public and I would encourage anyone who has information about this location or suspicions about other locations to contact us.

“I would also encourage owners of similar units to, where possible, conduct relevant checks on the peoples and nature of business when renting their units out.”
