Tenants raised grievances about their homes at a “heated” meeting with a housing association.

Problems such as lighting, gardens and concrete paving were discussed at the meeting with Habinteg, which took place last Wednesday in Ash Close, Edgware.

The Times Series was prevented from attending the meeting, as officials said it was not open to the public.

Edgware tenants’ representative Terry Wyse, 69, who has lived in Ash Close for seven years, said: “It was quite packed out. It was tense, and it started to get heated.

“There are the usual complaints you get on any estate, but these are quite serious. We don’t know how it’s happened. They let it go, and when it gets so far, then they do it.

“They said they are looking into it now, but they said this last year. I am always hopeful, and I have always looked to get things moving.”

Last month, two disabled women living in Stonyfields, Edgware, said their pleas to get uneven concrete outside their homes fixed had been ignored.

Speaking about the problem, Mr Wyse said: “I said they had better sort it out. If it snows, people cannot get out of their homes.”

Mr Wyse, who represents around 100 tenants, said he planned to hold regular meetings with tenants, where people could discuss any issue they wanted.

A Habinteg spokesman said that the issues were being dealt with.

They added: “We will be keeping tenants up to date with progress on these plans through a new newsletter specifically for tenants of our Edgware scheme, as well as individual contact with tenants where work may impact on a specific property.”
