Students have been getting a taste of what running a business is like after they helped launch a pop-up shop.

Barnet and Southgate College pupils, who are taking part in the Love Barnet project, opened The Tea Station in The Spires, High Barnet.

Construction students helped build the shop, including a children's soft play area and a gift shop, and it will be run by college students supervised by training staff.

Hospitality, travel and tourism and business students are all be involved in the project, with catering students preparing fresh artisan breads.

Art hanging on the wall is also for sale.

David Byrne, principal of Barnet and Southgate College, said: “The Tea Station, created in conjunction with local residents and key ‘Love Barnet’ businesses, is an exciting community venture for our students to be associated with.

“We have a number of departments involved, from construction to catering, to business and travel and tourism, which is great.  “I am extremely proud and thankful that different people have come together to give the college students a fantastic chance to experience business and enterprise.”
