A group of thugs who forced into a disabled woman’s home before tearing the jewellery from her neck and wrists have been jailed.

Jamie Butler, of Cheshunt, and brothers David Maughan and Patrick Maughan, pleaded guilty to robbing a woman in her home in Cool Oak Lane, West Hendon.

But police are still hunting a fourth suspect who was spotted leaving the scene in CCTV footage, who is yet to be caught.

After forcing their way into the 85-year-old woman’s ground floor flat, they grabbed the elderly victim and removed her jewellery from her neck and wrists.

They then grabbed her bag, breaking the straps as they tore it from her grasp. She was forced to sit on the floor while they ran off.

Butler, 25, was sentenced to five years and four months’ in jail while David Maughan was jailed for six years and three months. Patrick Maughan was sentenced to five years and four months.

The stolen jewellery has not been recovered.

Police are still searching for the remaining suspect, who is described as a white man, aged around 20, with short black hair.

Detective Constable Kerry Bonomi, from Barnet CID, said: “I would like to thank witnesses, the local community and the media for helping the police to identify three of those responsible for this awful crime.

“I would like to speak to the man shown in the CCTV in connection with this investigation. It is believed he was seen with the other men.”
