Students helped a government minister rustle up sweet treats in the kitchen when he visited their college.
Skills and equalities minister Nick Boles MP, and Finchley and Golders Green MP Mike Freer met students at Barnet and Southgate College.
Mr Boles met Christian Scelsi, 20, who is studying for his NVQ Level 3 chef’s diploma. He showed him how to cook a chocolate ganache and dip strawberries in it to create petits fours served at the event.
Mr Scelsi said: “I’m really enjoying my chef’s diploma course and gaining new catering skills and it’s been great showing the minister how to cook.”
Skills minister Nick Boles said: “Apprenticeships are at the heart of the Government’s drive to equip people with the skills employers want and need.
“We want it to become the new norm for people to choose between an apprenticeship or university as equally prestigious routes to a great career.
“That is why it’s so encouraging to see even more excellent apprenticeship opportunities available across the country.”
