Councillors are set to vote on freezing council tax for the next year.
Barnet Borough Council’s policy and resources committee voted to recommend freezing the tax for 2015 to 2016 when it met at Hendon Town Hall on Tuesday.
An average band D household in the borough currently pays £1,401.07 a year, of which £1,102.07 goes to Barnet Council and £299.00 to the Greater London Assembly.
The decision follows a one per cent cut to the tax last year, which was supported by Conservative and Labour councillors, but criticised by the borough’s Lib Dem councillors.
Barnet Council's Conservative leader Councillor Richard Cornelius said: “We have pledged to freeze council tax again. This is the right thing to do. Taxpayers should share in the savings we have made.”
The freeze will be voted on when full council meets to discuss the authority's budget on March 3.
