A driver who mowed down a mother in a sports car and then drove off has been jailed for six years for causing death by dangerous driving.

Alperin Ozcan, 24, of Burnt Oak Broadway, Burnt Oak, hit Danka Bevilagua in his Nissan Skyline as she got off a bus in West Hendon Broadway at 11.45pm on June 16, 2013.

Mrs Bevilagua was taken to St Mary's Hospital in a critical condition, and died on September 22, 2013 from multiple and severe head injuries.

Ozcan had admitted causing death by careless driving but was found guilty at Wood Green Crown Court yesterday of causing death by dangerous driving. He was given a six-year sentence.

He also received an 18-month concurrent sentence for causing death by driving unlicensed as he had modified the car but not informed his insurance company.
