A great grandmother and a group of students took on a marathon to raise money for a Jewish charity.

Flora Frank, who lives in Edgware, was joined by a group of Bnei Akiva gap year students during the Jerusalem Marathon.

Mrs Frank, 71, completed the 26.2 mile route in six hours and 23 minutes to raise money for Jewish charities Emunah and Norwood.

The Bnei Avkiva group, which has headquarters in Temple Fortune, raised £2,000 for the same charity during the run.

She said: “In Jerusalem, there are not too many people in their 70s who do a full marathon and there was a lot of hype about me.

“I always walk, I don’t run. You would need a phenomenal amount of training to run a full marathon as Jerusalem is so hilly.“

The Bnei Akiva students, Shoshi Greenbaum, Tami Colletts, Jonathan Gordon, Asher Breuer-Weil, Rafi Cohen, Noah Haber, David Hochhauser Michael Landau, raised £2,000 by running the race.

Emunah director Deborah Nathan said: “Flora never ceases to amaze us, she’s brilliant. The students' support was much appreciated.”

Emunah, based in Hendon, raises money for ‘at risk’ children who are supported at Emnunah’s children’s homes and projects in Israel.
