Morag the highland cow and the crawling baby animatronic puppet from the film Trainspotting are among the attractions at a display of masks and puppets at Kingston Museum from Saturday to April 21.
Puppetry is the oldest form of theatre, and the exhibition will include shadow puppets from Greece, Turkey and Indonesia, rod puppets from Java, Rajasthani marionettes, giant Russian doll figures from the Rostov State Puppet Theatre and Punch and Judy.
Masks include leather ones worn in Italy's Commedia dell-Arte, character masks from Nepal and a set made at the Scottish Mask and Puppet Centre for the children's television series, The Monkey King.
Entry is free, and the museum is open from 10am to 5pm each day except Sunday and Wednesday.
