A spoof Big Brother-style video featuring teenagers who are confused about elections is encouraging young people in Hertsmere to register to vote.

The video, produced by Hertsmere Borough Council, is being shared to educate viewers about who is eligible to vote, how to register and the different ways to vote.

It also highlights the importance of hearing from everyone in the community in elections and tells young people voting is the best way to “help shape the world you want”.

There is just one week left to register to vote in the General Election on May 7.

Recent surveys have indicated that around of half of those aged 18 to 21 in the UK have not yet registered.

Rules introduced since the last election mean young people can no longer rely on their parents or university to register for them.

Hertsmere residents can find out if they are eligible or registered to vote by calling 020 8207 7481 or emailing elections@hertsmere.gov.uk.
