People are being urged to lace their trainers to take part in a race to help find a cure for a “debilitating” disease.

Staff from Aims2Cure, a multiple sclerosis charity run by ten people from Elstree and Radlett, are getting ready to take part in the race, which is organised by Anglo-Jewish sports charity Maccabi GB.

The run will be held at Allianz Park Stadium, in Greenlands Lane, Hendon, on June 14.

Aims2Cure hopes to raise £5,000 for the cause and is encouraging runners and people wanting to get fit to sign up.

Mother-of-two Jennifer Thake, who is one of the charity’s founding members, said: “If people can raise just £20 is sponsorship that would be great.

“I will be doing it with my two kids. I am excited, it’s something the charity has never done before.

“The charity has a really good atmosphere, a really good feel about it, really positive with everybody trying to help each other.”

The charity holds events to raise money to fund research centres dedicated to finding a cure to multiple sclerosis.

Ms Thake added: “Multiple sclerosis affects 100,000 people in this country. Coming between the ages of 20 and 40, it hits people in the prime of their lives.

“It’s so debilitating, so disabling - it affects people differently but it can make it so people can’t walk, can’t see properly, or can’t use their hands.

“It’s a really tragic condition to have which is why we really want to try and help people find a cure.”
