A care home has been rated as ‘good’ following a surprise inspection.
The Care Quality Commission (CQC) inspected Fairford Court, which looks after people with mental health issues in Colney Hatch Lane, Friern Barnet, in December.
The home was rated ‘good’ in four categories - for safety, effectiveness, responsiveness and the level of care provided.
Its leadership was rated as ‘requires improvement’, with the CQC being told management could improve consultation with staff.
Overall, the CQC report found that staff treated its 14 users with “respect and compassion”, and knew how to recognise and report abuse.
Staff also spoke highly of the training they received, and relatives told the CQC their family members received “world class” care.
