Permission to play league football is "likely" if a football club clinches the Conference title this weekend.

Due to play Gateshead this Saturday, Barnet FC are currently one point ahead of Bristol Rovers, and matching Rovers’ result will send the Bees back into the Football League to play in League Two next year.

If the team finishes second, they’ll go into the play-offs.

The club now play at The Hive, in Camrose Avenue, Edgware, after a move from Underhill Stadium - the club’s home for 106 years - at the end of the 2012-2013 Season.

Plans to allow the club to play league football at the ground were never followed through and, as it stands, no Football League fixtures are permitted at the ground.

A Harrow Council spokesperson said: “If Barnet FC are promoted into the third division of the football league, as part of our agreement they will need to apply to the council for consent to play professional football on the ground.

“This is likely to be granted, which will give them permission to play there for an initial period of three years.”
