A man managed to stagger home to call for help after he was hit with a brick and kicked in the stomach during a mugging.
The 33-year-old was walking to the newsagents in Oakleigh Road North, Whetstone, on Sunday April 12 when he was approached from behind.
A silver chain and £20 were taken from him during the attack.
When he arrived home paramedics took him to hospital with serious injuries.
Detective Constable Lee Saunders, of the Barnet Crime Investigation Unit, said: “This appears to be an unprovoked attack which left the victim with severe injuries. I am appealing to anyone who saw this incident or has information to contact me urgently.”
