Two people from Potters Bar who were arrested following an investigation into a missing dog have been released without charge.

A 55-year-old woman, who was arrested on suspicion of fraud by false representation, and a 53-year-old man arrested on suspicion of theft, will face no further action, police have said.

The dog, a one-year-old black and white French bulldog called Gordon, went missing from his home in Worley Road, St Albans, on August 13.

Hertfordshire Constabulary said the dog was allegedly found and taken to an address in Potters Bar where it was believed his owner lived.

Officers made enquiries at the address but the dog could not be found.

The dog was eventually taken to a vet in Uxbridge on Wednesday, August 26, and has since been reunited with his owner.

Following further information coming to light, a 23-year-old woman from Hayes was arrested yesterday (September 2) on suspicion of perverting the course of justice and fraud by abuse of position. The woman has been released on police bail until October 29.

Anyone with any information in relation to this alleged incident is asked to contact PC Clare Lapenna on 101, quoting crime reference F1/15/2879.
