A CURRY house in Whetstone has been nominated for a Parliamentary award for the second year running.

The Bayleaf, on High Road, has been put forward for the Tiffin Cup awards 2015, which aims to find the country’s best Indian restaurant.

The restaurant, opened by Toffozul Miah two years ago, was nominated by Chipping Barnet MP Theresa Villiers.

Ms Villiers said “Toff Miah and his team at the Bayleaf are a great asset to my constituency. Toff’s Bayleaf take-away is a long-established and much-valued part of our local community. The excellent Bayleaf restaurant, which he opened two years ago, has been going from strength to strength and is also very popular.

“It is a real pleasure to nominate the Bayleaf once again for this prestigious competition. They did very well in 2014 and were highly commended. This year, they have once again reached the regional finals and I dropped in to wish them luck in the forthcoming contest.

“The restaurant has an extremely talented head chef, Chef Taj, and I am sure he and all the staff at the Bayleaf will perform brilliantly.”

A mystery diner will visit the restaurant in the next few weeks to judge whether the restaurant should go forward to the national final in October.
