ENGLAND may have lost their chances of winning the Rugby World Cup – but this pot-bellied pig is determined not to give up.

Kind and gentle Genevive came to the RSPCA’s Animal Centre, in Packhorse Lane Ridge, Potters Bar, after being found trotting along a country lane.

The two-year-old is now hoping to find a team of her own to join soon.

Anna White, manager of the centre in Potter’s Bar, Hertfordshire, said: “Pigs are really intelligent animals and need a stimulating environment to stop them from getting bored.

“Like all pigs she loves to root around so we give her treat balls to play with and things like logs and plenty of straw to investigate.

“We gave her a rugby ball just to see what she thought of it and she’s a natural. She knocks it around her pen with her snout.

“I’m not sure she’ll be getting a call up to the England squad just yet but hopefully we may get a call from some potential new owners.

“We’ll certainly give it a good try, let’s hope we are victorious.”

Just like the players, Genevieve, needs plenty of room to exercise, loves getting muddy and enjoys company so will have to be rehomed with other swine or with someone looking to get another pig.
