A STASH of horse drugs stolen from a stable could be lethal if taken by humans, detectives have warned.
Thieves broke into the yard in Whitehill, between Ayot Green and Welwyn village and escaped with 25 sachets of Bute - a horse painkiller - and 170 tablets of the tranquilliser ACP.
The horse medicine Ketamine is sometimes taken by clubbers for its hallucinatory effects, but the stolen drugs are different substances and police have warned people not to touch them.
Detective Inspector Mike Marren said: "We would warn any members of the public that these drugs could be extremely dangerous if ingested by humans.
"We would stress that these drugs are not designed for the human body and could in fact prove lethal.
"If you come across or are offered anything at all suspicious, do not hesitate to call police."
The thieves also took a metal safe, syringes and horse steroid cream.
