Three schoolgirls are hoping to beat of the competition to win one of the biggest charity talent competitions in north London.

Banji Confirmed is a dance group comprised of three 11-year-old girls; twin sisters Charlotte and Jessica Brennan, and their friend Amelia. They will be competing at ‘North London’s Got Talent’, a show ran and organised by North London Hospice.

The Hospice, which operates across Barnet, Enfield and Haringey, is running the talent competition to raise money to help care for its patients

The girls met two years ago at Woodside Park school, and have been dancing together ever since in Banji - an acronym meaning 'Be Authentic Never Jeopardise Individuality'.

They have performed in public at galas and weddings before, but the girls say this performance will be their most personal ever.

Charlotte and Jessica's grandpa passed away three years ago, and spent his final weeks at North London Hospice. The girls said they wanted to raise as much money as possible for the hospice, and have so far collected £752.50.

Jessica said: “It is really emotional, and in the end we don’t care if we win or lose. We knew about the competition straight away as my auntie works there, and we really wanted to take part.

“I’m a little bit nervous before every performance, but it’s always thrilling to go out on stage.”

Their mum Sharon Brennan said: “The last few weeks of my father’s life could not have been more peaceful. My sister was so affected by it that she took a job there. They really rely on charity donations which is why all this is so important.”

North London's Got Talent will take place at the artsdepot in North Finchley on Saturday, 6 February.
