NEW police officers have pledged to crack down on crime, anti-social behaviour and speeding.

Sergeant Noel Buckley, has left the Bushey and Radlett Neighbourhood Team and will now head up Potters Bar and Shenley.

He took up the post last October and has 13 years of service.

He said: “I always wanted to be a police officer, especially after a police officer visited my school to talk about his role.

“It has always stuck with me and my granddad was a police sergeant in Ireland. When I was working in my previous job, I heard an advert on the local radio advertising the police and went along to an open day.

“I was immediately hooked.”

He has also spent two years working in Operation Scorpion, which involves tracking down burglars, robbers and drug dealers.

PC Jenna Farmer, who originally hoped to be a dentist, joined the police aged 21 after quitting a forensic science degree.

She said: “Being part of the neighbourhood team means you can see a job through to the end and take ownership of it and really get to know local residents, which is very rewarding, especially when you get a thank you.”

PCSO Chris Lake, 24, is the newest addition to the team and started his post after finishing his training in December. He covers Shenley.

Before joining the police force, PCSO Lake was part of the RAF police reserve for four years, where he toured Afghanistan.

He said: “The skills I’ve learnt as an RAF reserve have already proved very useful in this job.”
