A NEW director has been appointed to head up an “incredible” charity.

Rob Blackstone will take on the role of director of operations and development at special needs charity Kisharon, based in Parson Street, Hendon.

He was previously assistant director of adult social care for Hackney.

Mr Blackstone said: “I’m delighted to be joining Kisharon. Moving from a local authority to a charity means going back to my roots and getting more involved and working directly with the people we support and their families. Kisharon is an incredible organisation which makes a huge impact on the lives of people with learning disabilities.

‘’It’s a good career decision and I can’t wait to start.”

Mr Blackstone will be working alongside a board of directors and a strong, professional staff team to ensure the organisation continues to achieve sustainable growth to meet the community’s needs.

Chief executive Dr Beverley Jacobson said: “I feel privileged that Kisharon has managed to attract a professional of Rob’s calibre.

“Rob is innovative and forward thinking and is passionate about providing high quality services.

“He fits perfectly into our senior management team and we are all really looking forward to working with him to continue to grow Kisharon’s services and ensure individuals with learning disabilities are afforded the same opportunities as their mainstream peers and are supported to develop their independence and live inclusive lives as contributors to the community.”
